The importance of lighting in photography and videography can never be overemphasized. In the makeup world now everyone has come to the consciousness that even though your makeup is on point, if your lighting is bad it won't come out great in pictures. Everyone knows that natural day light is the cheapest and the best form of lightning for makeup photos and videos . All you need do is to be in front of a window. But unfortunately some houses like mine because of the design of the building very little amount of natural light enters my house especially my room. So I needed an alternative and i started to research on lighting for makeup photos and videos. I came across several videos on YouTube about ring lights, soft boxes, and the one that immediately caught my attention was the portable Selfie Led Ring Light. I knew this would be better for me at the moment, pending when I can get a proper ring light because ring lights are very expensive in Nigeria here a ring light of 18" with the stand and all the assesories cost between 35000naira to 45000naira.
I was going through the aliexpress app one day and the Selfie Led Ring Light came up on my reccomended. So i clicked on it and found out it was very cheap. I immediately ordered it. It took about a month and 3 days to arrive Nigeria . I was so excited to finally have lighting even though it's a mini ring light. It came with a USB plug for charging and a manual. I charged the light and then pressed the power button to see how it works. It had 3 brightness level from low brightness to the highest brightness depending on which you prefer.
The moment i clipped it on my phone it added brightness to my camera and immediately made my photos appear clearer and my makeup was more pronounced. I also used the ring light without any other form of lighting and it worked perfectly. So if you are in the club or out at night and you intend to take pictures you need this light. If you do makeup on yourself and on clients and you would love to showcase it and maybe you can't afford a ring light now you should purchase this you would thank me later. And to answer the question in the title of this post, YES! It is worth the hype. I have no regrets at all purchasing this portable Selfie Led Ring Light. It is affordable and portable too I can just put it in my bag and am out of the house.
